Who can enter the competition

Entry is open to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples living in Australia.

Employees of the Australian Human Rights Commission and their immediate families do not qualify to enter.

Entry is limited to one entry per person.

Opening and closing date

The competition commences on Tuesday 2 June 2009 and closes at 11:59pm on Friday 26 June 2009.

Selection of entries

The entries will be assessed by members of the National Representative Body Steering Committee. The best entry will be selected based on how well the entry addresses the selection criteria.

The winner will be notified via email and written letter by 31 July 2009.

If the winner of the competition is under the age of 18 years at the date of the draw, the winner’s parent or guardian will be notified.

Prize details

There are five prizes to be won: the winner will receive an iPod Touch (16 GB) plus a $100 book voucher; and four runners up will win prizes of $100 book vouchers each. The prize does not include insurance or any accessories.

The prize is not transferable and cannot be taken as cash. The Australian Human Rights Commission will deliver the prize to the winner by registered post by 31 July 2009.

Exclusion of liability

The winner accepts the prize at his or her own risk. The Australian Human Rights Commission will not be liable for any claim, cost, expense, loss or damage following acceptance of the prize.

Winning entry must comply with Terms and Conditions

If a winning entry does not comply with the conditions of entry, the entry will not be eligible for selection.

The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

Unclaimed prize draw

If the prize is not accepted or is unable to be delivered, the winning entry will be deemed invalid and the Australian Human Rights Commission will redraw the winning entry.

Privacy statement

The Australian Human Rights Commission is bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and will not disclose your personal information to a third party without your consent, except if required by law.

Important note

The winning entry will not necessarily be used as the name of the new National Representative Body for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

The top five entries will be included in the report to the Australian government on 31 July 2009, for future consideration.
