Ten years later: Bringing them home and the Forced Removal of Children

In April 1997 the Australian Human Rights Commission released Bringing them home. The report
followed a two-year National Inquiry into the Separation
of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children from
Their Families.

2005 International Conference on Engaging Communities, Brisbane, Australia.

On 15 August 2005, in Brisbane Australia, 160 delegates from the International Engaging Communities conference participated in the UN-sponsored workshop, 'Engaging the Marginalised: Partnerships between Indigenous Peoples, governments and civil society'.

A seminar about the Steering Committee for Government Service Provision's Overcoming Indigenous Disadvantage, Key Indicators 2005 Report was held on 16 September 2005 in Sydney, co-hosted by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner, the Productivity Commission and Reconciliation Australia.

Moving Forward: Achieving Reparations for the Stolen Generations

August 2001

A national conference to facilitate public debate about reparations for the stolen generations was held on 15 & 16 August 2001 in Sydney.The conference was hosted by the Australian Human Rights Commission (the Commission), the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission (ATSIC) and the Public Interest Advocacy Centre (PIAC).
