Navigation
The following list details some of the site-wide navigation features that improve the overall accessibility of this site.
The primary navigation system are menus that provide quick and easy access to the site’s major content areas.
The top menus provide access to the main subsections of the HREOC website. The expandable menus within the subsections are text-based lists and will still work for users using alternative browsing technologies, or who have javascript and/or Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) disabled.
A 'Skip to content' link is available for users using text-only browsers such as lynx or screenreaders. This link is at the top of the page and allows you to skip directly to the content without having to scroll past the site navigation and headers.
Technical requirements
This website will run on a wide range of browsers and operating systems.
JavaScript is used throughout this site. However, site content is still accessible to users with JavaScript disabled.
Visual design has been optimised for monitors set at 1024 by 768 pixels resolution. The site will still function for users on other settings but it may not be as visually appealing.
Multimedia on this site has been kept to a minimum, however we endeavour to make accessible alternatives available where possible, such as transcripts of videos and audio files.
