Human rights in the curriculum
Human rights topics are taught in many different subjects throughout Australia, including history, geography, the arts, English, legal studies, commerce, business studies, career education, health, family and community studies. In Australia, human rights have been directly linked to the National Statements for Learning in Civics and Citizenship.
Human rights programs in schools
A human rights approach to learning means thinking about the classroom and school environment, as well as the methods used to engage student learning. In Australia, the National Safe Schools Framework provides a starting point for thinking about protecting rights through school programs and policy.
