Request for proposals: Web site access survey
The Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission is seeking proposals from suitably qualified individuals or organisations to conduct a survey of accessibility of selected Australian websites, as part of the follow up to its inquiry on accessibility of electronic commerce and related services. (The report of this inquiry and an initial survey of Commonwealth government websites are available on line via http://www.humanrights.gov.au/disability_rights/inquiries/ecom/ecom.html .)
The survey is intended to cover two groups of sites:
1. A selection of significant Commonwealth Government information and transaction sites
2. Other sites having high levels of useage and/or importance in the private and State government sectors.
The survey is intended to identify whether sites are accessible to and useable by people with disabilities in practice rather than focussing exclusively on issues of technical compliance with relevant standards.
Formal tenders will be invited for conduct of this survey after consideration of proposals received in response to this request.
Proposals, including an outline of the proposed method for conducting
the survey; indicative costings; and timeframes if possible, should be
provided, by 19 June 2002, by email to disabdis@humanrights.gov.au.
