Carers and associates

Unlawful discrimination under the Disability Discrimination Act includes discrimination because a person is an associate of a person with a disability. Associates include partners and families, friends, and carers.

Carers also play an important role in supporting and advocating for the rights of people with disability.

Young People in Nursing Homes National Alliance (YPINH)
National organisation promoting the rights of younger people with high and complex support needs living in residential aged care facilities (or at risk of placement there), to have choice about where they live and how they are supported.

National Carers Coalition (NCC)
An unfunded organisation formed by a coalition of carers.
