The Disability Discrimination Act 1992 makes disability discrimination unlawful and aims to promote equal opportunity and access for people with disabilities.
Under the Act, individuals can lodge complaints of discrimination and harassment with HREOC.
We undertake a wide range of activities to assist individuals and organisations to understand their rights and meet their legal responsibilities.
As part of our role, we conduct public inquiries, negotiate disability guidelines and standards, support organisations to develop Disability Action Plans and run community education programs.
This work is led by Graeme Innes AM, the Acting Disability Discrimination Commissioner.
