12. Neither the "direct" nor the "indirect" models of discrimination are able to capture the complexity of the pay inequity phenomenon. However, the SDA may provide some redress for pay inequity that occurs through discrimination. For example, where the pay inequity occurs within one workplace, there is a male worker who provides an easy comparator and pay systems are transparent, a complainant may bring a successful complaint of pay inequity. In other words, sex discrimination law can target the clearest forms of pay inequity.
