Legal Services Expenditure Report for the Financial Year 2007 - 2008
For each financial year, direction 11.1(ba) of the Legal Services Directions requires the Australian Human Rights Commission to publish:
- how much it spent on legal services; and
- details of the barristers it briefed.

Explanatory notes
- The amount spent on internal legal services includes all direct and indirect
expenses, comprised of direct salary costs, indirect salary costs
(superannuation, leave entitlements) direct overhead (costs of desks, computer,
stationery) indirect overhead (apportioned rent, electricity, etc), and legal
unit overhead (specialist software licences, cost of law library).
- The Commission's Legal Section also provides legal advice to the Office of the Federal Privacy Commissioner and this work is reflected in the amount spent on internal legal services.
