In April 1997 the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity
Commission released Bringing them home. The report
followed a two-year National Inquiry into the Separation
of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children from
Their Families.

A seminar about the Steering Committee for Government Service Provision's Overcoming Indigenous Disadvantage, Key Indicators 2005 Report was held on 16 September 2005 in Sydney, co-hosted by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner, the Productivity Commission and Reconciliation Australia.

national conference to facilitate public debate about reparations for
the stolen generations was held on 15 & 16 August 2001 in Sydney.The
conference was hosted by the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission
(HREOC), the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission (ATSIC)
and the Public Interest Advocacy Centre (PIAC).
